Former President Bill Clinton has been hospitalized in Washington after experiencing a fever, according to a statement from a top aide shared with NBC News on Monday.
The 78-year-old former president was admitted to MedStar Georgetown University Hospital for evaluation and observation, confirmed Angel Ureña, Clinton’s deputy chief of staff. Ureña further assured that Clinton is “in good spirits and appreciative of the care he’s receiving.”
A source familiar with the situation described it as “not urgent,” emphasizing that Clinton’s condition is stable.
“The former president will be fine,” the source said. “He experienced a fever and wanted to get it checked out. He remains awake and alert.”
Clinton’s Health Issues
Since leaving office in 2001, former President Bill Clinton has dealt with several health challenges.
In 2004, he underwent a quadruple bypass surgery at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital to address significant heart issues. Six years later, in 2010, he returned to the same facility for another heart-related procedure, where two stents were placed in a coronary artery.
More recently, in 2021, Clinton faced a serious health scare when he was hospitalized in California for six days due to a urological infection that had progressed into a bloodstream infection. He was also hospitalized for six days in California in 2021 with a urological infection that spread to his bloodstream.
The ex President remains active and has spoken at every Democratic National Convention since 1976, including this August.
