Steve Doocy returned to the famous couch at Fox News headquarters in New York City, joining Ainsley Earhardt and Brian Kilmeade in Studio M.
More than a year after stepping back from his daily in-studio duties, Doocy was back in his familiar seat—and viewers made it clear how much they had missed him.

Doocy announced his temporary comeback by sharing a cheerful photograph with Earhardt and Kilmeade from the Fox & Friends set.
“YES—I’m back on the couch a couple days filling in for Lawrence,” he wrote. “Always a pleasure seeing Ainsley and Brian and the Studio M Crew.”
The longtime Fox News personality explained that the arrangement was only temporary and that he would soon resume his regular work away from New York.
“I’ll be back to my coast to coast hosting next week faraway from NYC—but this is a nice chance to drop in on HQ to catch up with my pals and talk about my grandkids and pickle ball,” he added.
Doocy later confirmed that he had spent three days hosting from the couch before preparing to return to the road.
“Three days hosting @foxandfriends from the couch was fun,” he wrote, adding that he was a “traveling man” and asking followers where he should visit next.
Fox News viewers celebrate his comeback
The response to Doocy’s return was immediate. His first photograph from the couch received more than 34,000 likes and thousands of comments as viewers welcomed him back.
“So happy to see you back!!! Miss you it’s not the same without you!” one follower wrote.
Another viewer said, “Great show with you there Steve,” while the official Fox & Friends account celebrated his appearance by declaring, “@stevedoocy is so back.”
The show’s post also prompted another wave of supportive reactions. One commenter called Doocy, Earhardt and Kilmeade “The A team,” while also making it clear that Lawrence Jones remained appreciated.
Another follower simply wrote, “Everyone loves Steve Doocy!”
The enthusiastic reaction showed that although viewers continue to support Jones, seeing the original trio reunited on the couch brought back plenty of fond memories.
Why Steve Doocy left the New York studio
Doocy stepped away from his full-time position on the Fox & Friends couch in May 2025 after approximately 30 years of waking up at 3:30 a.m. and traveling into New York City.
He emphasized at the time that he was neither retiring nor leaving the program. Instead, Fox News created a new Coast-to-Coast Host role that allowed him to remain part of the show without appearing in the Manhattan studio every day.
The change also followed Doocy’s relocation to Florida with his wife, Kathy. Since taking on the new position, he has traveled around the country and appeared from different locations while continuing to contribute to the morning program.
Doocy previously explained that the arrangement emerged after a conversation with Fox News CEO Suzanne Scott, whom he described as a friend of more than 30 years.
“She gave me a great option—to keep working on this show … just not every day,” he said when announcing the change.
His return to New York offered him an opportunity to reconnect with his longtime colleagues while providing temporary coverage for Jones.
A short return that meant plenty to viewers
After completing his three-day appearance, Doocy shared another photograph from the studio and announced that it was time to resume his travels.
The brief comeback may not have represented a permanent return to his former schedule, but it reminded viewers of the familiar chemistry he shares with Earhardt and Kilmeade after so many years together.
Doocy’s temporary return proved that his place on the iconic couch continues to hold special meaning for the Fox News audience.
Lawrence Jones is expected to reclaim his regular seat following his time off, while Doocy will continue traveling as part of his Coast-to-Coast Host duties.
