There is no sign of their family fallout ending anytime soon
King Charles is “absolutely furious” with Prince Harry for failing to recognize the irreversible damage he has caused to the Royal Family, according to royal expert Tom Quinn.
The monarch, crowned in May 2023, has reportedly been avoiding any contact with his estranged son since Harry moved to the United States. The Duke of Sussex stepped down from his role as a senior working royal over four years ago. In 2020, he and his wife, Meghan Markle, decided to step back and become financially independent from the monarchy.
Following their departure, Harry and Meghan moved from England to Montecito, California, to settle down with their two children, Archie and Lilibet. Their move came after a significant falling out between Meghan and Kate Middleton, the Princess of Wales, and increasing tensions between Charles and Harry as he defended his wife.
Harry and Meghan have further strained their relationship with the royal family by staging an interview with Oprah Winfrey in 2021, releasing a Netflix documentary about their life in 2022, and publishing Harry’s memoir, “Spare,” which made numerous extraordinary accusations against his family.
King Charles avoiding Prince Harry
It appears King Charles, 75, is not ready to reconcile with his son. He has reportedly made “flimsy excuses” to cancel meetings with Harry because he refuses to acknowledge his part in their rift. Quinn explains, “King Charles is still absolutely furious at his younger son’s refusal to see how much damage he has done to the family. Harry knows that no one is fooled by his father’s flimsy excuses for not seeing him.”
Quinn continues, “Harry’s stinging criticisms of his father the King and his brother the Prince of Wales meant it was only a matter of time before Harry was slapped down, and now it has happened.”
Concluding his analysis, Quinn adds, “Harry has never been able to see that the more he attacks his family, the more they will reject him. It says a lot about Harry’s naivety that he thinks his criticisms will make his father and brother come running to him, begging for forgiveness.”
