The moment came during the 113th Congressional Club luncheon at the Washington Hilton, where the second lady was recognized in front of attendees and presented with a baby gift. The event brought together spouses of both current and former political figures, continuing a long-standing tradition on the city’s social calendar.

A public moment during a private milestone

Vance, 40, attended the luncheon wearing a floral dress, standing alongside Melania Trump during the afternoon program. Toward the conclusion of the event, she was invited to stand and was presented with a baby blanket.

The gift was handed to her by Leah Dunn, identified as the president of the Congressional Club and the wife of Florida Republican Representative Neal Dunn.

The appearance highlighted Vance’s pregnancy with her fourth child, a baby boy expected in late July with JD Vance. The couple are already parents to three children: Ewan, Vivek, and Mirabel.

The pregnancy was first announced in January, and the luncheon marked one of the most visible moments since that announcement.

Melania Trump highlights policy focus

While the event included personal celebrations, it also served as a platform for broader issues. Melania Trump used the occasion to continue drawing attention to foster care reform, a topic she has emphasized in recent weeks.

Her “Fostering the Future” initiative is centered on expanding educational access, scholarship opportunities, and employment pathways for young people transitioning out of the foster system. The effort has become a key part of her public agenda.

Trump has also recently appeared on Capitol Hill in support of legislation tied to foster youth, reinforcing the policy focus introduced during the luncheon.

The gathering ultimately combined tradition with both personal and policy moments, placing Vance’s growing family and Trump’s advocacy work at the center of the afternoon’s events.
