Kat Timpf shares emotional health update as pregnancy brings new cancer concerns

Kat Timpf has shared an emotional new health update after visiting her cancer surgeon, explaining why her current pregnancy means she needs to be checked more often following her hormone-positive breast cancer diagnosis.

The Fox News personality spoke openly in a recent video during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, reflecting on what cancer has taken from her and why she believes survivors should be allowed to speak honestly about the hardest parts of the experience.

Timpf explained that, because her cancer was hormone-positive and pregnancy brings extra estrogen into her body, her doctors are monitoring her more closely.

“I’m just leaving my checkup from my cancer surgeon because my cancer was hormone-positive and I’m now pregnant,” she said. “There’s all that extra estrogen in my body. I need to be checked a little more often.”

While Timpf did not say that her cancer has returned, she made clear that pregnancy has brought fresh health concerns and more regular appointments after a frightening chapter in her life.

Kat explains why the checkup felt especially emotional

Timpf said that being at the doctor’s office, combined with her second pregnancy and Breast Cancer Awareness Month, had left her thinking deeply about her experience.

She acknowledged that her diagnosis was stage zero, which she described as the best possible stage. But she also said that a favorable diagnosis did not erase the physical and emotional losses she has endured.

“I still lost my boobs, my nipples, my ability to breastfeed,” Timpf said. “I still have the fear of it coming back to have with me the rest of my life.”

The expectant mother explained that knowing she cannot breastfeed her new baby has been especially difficult.

“Being pregnant again and not being able to breastfeed, and knowing I can’t breastfeed this baby sucks and it’s sad,” she said. “And you know what? It’s okay for me to say that it’s sad.”

Timpf said that being honest about cancer does not take away from a survivor’s strength.

“Being honest about what cancer takes from you doesn’t make you a victim,” she said. “It makes you honest.”

Her message offered a candid reminder that even those who receive encouraging medical news can carry lasting fears, grief and changes to their lives.

“Cancer sucks,” Kat tells fellow survivors

Timpf also pushed back on the pressure she believes cancer survivors can feel to always appear brave, positive and inspiring.

She said Breast Cancer Awareness Month can sometimes create the expectation that people who have faced the disease should present themselves only as heroes. But she urged others to allow themselves space to acknowledge the reality of what they have been through.

“I think during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, there is so much pressure on all of us to be brave, inspiring heroes all the time,” she said. “And it’s totally fine for us to admit that this sucks.”

“Amputating parts of your body sucks. Being afraid sucks,” Timpf continued.

She noted that she did not have to undergo chemotherapy, but added that this did not make the experience easy.

“I didn’t have to have chemo, but I’ve heard it sucks,” she said. “Cancer sucks, guys. It really sucks.”

At the same time, Timpf explained that allowing herself to be sad and honest at times helps her maintain the more casual and humorous way she often speaks about her health journey.

“I think that the fact that I let myself be honest about that and be sad sometimes is what allows me to have a casual attitude about it the rest of the time,” she said.

Fans flood Kat with love and prayers

Timpf’s post received more than 46,000 likes and thousands of comments from supporters, cancer survivors and people whose loved ones have faced the disease.

Many thanked her for saying what other survivors may feel but struggle to put into words. One follower wrote, “Thank you for saying what needs to be said,” while another simply responded, “It does suck.”

Others shared their own experiences with cancer, surgery, treatment and the lingering fear that can remain even years later.

Fans also praised Timpf’s honesty and strength, with one person writing, “Love who you are! Never change!” Another commenter told her, “My prayers are with you.”

Timpf also used the update to remind followers about a fundraiser for Memorial Sloan Kettering, where her sister is running a marathon. She said raising money has given her “the chance to create something good out of something so awful.”

As she navigates pregnancy and more frequent checkups, Kat Timpf’s powerful message is clear: strength does not mean pretending cancer did not hurt—it means being brave enough to tell the truth about what it took.
