FBI Director Kash Patel and his longtime girlfriend, country singer Alexis Wilkins, are taking the next step in their relationship.
Patel, 46, and Wilkins, 27, are officially engaged after more than three years together, with Wilkins revealing the news while showing off a sparkling diamond ring.
The singer shared a photograph of herself alongside Patel on X on October 4, accompanying the announcement with a playful reference to her fiancé’s career.
“Went and got the law involved,” Wilkins wrote.
The engagement marks a major personal milestone for a couple whose relationship has become increasingly visible since Patel took charge of the FBI.
Their relationship began in Nashville
Patel and Wilkins first crossed paths in 2022 at a gathering at a friend’s home in Nashville, Wilkins previously explained during an appearance on The Megyn Kelly Show.
They began dating in early 2023 and have since appeared together at a number of public events.
Wilkins was at Patel’s side for one of the biggest moments of his career when he was sworn in as FBI director in Washington, D.C., in February 2025.
President Donald Trump had nominated Patel to lead the bureau. Following his confirmation, Patel officially took office as the FBI’s ninth director on February 21, 2025.
Wilkins has continued accompanying him to prominent events. In June of this year, she joined Patel at UFC Freedom 250 at the White House.
Wilkins has built her own public career
While her relationship with the FBI director has attracted considerable attention, Wilkins has pursued careers in both country music and political media.
She released her debut EP, Grit, in April 2023 and has worked as a political commentator.
Wilkins has also served as an ambassador for Turning Point USA, hosted a program on Rumble and made appearances at conservative political events. In 2025, she joined the National Rifle Association’s board.
As Patel’s public profile grew following his appointment to the FBI, Wilkins also found herself facing greater attention surrounding their relationship.
She has publicly addressed online speculation and criticism regarding the couple’s 19-year age difference.
Relationship faced scrutiny after Patel took FBI role
Wilkins has also supported Patel during controversies surrounding his leadership of the bureau.
Last year, questions emerged over reports concerning the use of FBI personnel for Wilkins’ security.
One report from MS NOW claimed Patel had ordered agents to drive one of Wilkins’ friends home following a night out. An FBI spokesperson rejected that account.
“This is made up and did not happen,” the spokesperson said.
There were also reports that members of an FBI SWAT team had been assigned to Wilkins’ protection detail, leading to questions about the use of bureau resources.
Despite the increased public attention, Patel and Wilkins have continued appearing together.
Now, more than three years after they first met in Nashville and after Wilkins stood beside Patel as he became FBI director, the couple is preparing for marriage.
Wilkins chose to make the milestone public herself, pairing the first look at her engagement ring with a lighthearted message that tied together their relationship and Patel’s career in law enforcement.
