Karoline Leavitt is joining Fox News after landing a new role since leaving White House to focus on family

Karoline Leavitt has landed a new television role just weeks after stepping away from her position as White House press secretary.

Fox News announced that Leavitt, 29, will join the network as an on-air contributor beginning November 1. In the new position, she is expected to appear across both news and opinion programming.

The move marks a new chapter for Leavitt after she left the Trump administration at the end of August, saying she wanted to devote more time to her two young children.

Leavitt officially joins Fox News

Leavitt was already a familiar presence on Fox News during her time at the White House, but the new agreement makes her an official member of the network’s team.

Fox News Media CEO Suzanne Scott highlighted Leavitt’s background in both the administration and presidential campaigning while announcing the hiring.

“Karoline’s firsthand experience in the White House and on the presidential campaign trail gives her a distinct understanding of today’s political landscape,” Scott said.

Leavitt also expressed enthusiasm about the opportunity.

“I am grateful for the opportunity to continue appearing on Fox News Channel as an official member of the extraordinary team at Fox News Media,” she said.

She added that she plans to bring her experience as White House press secretary, along with the “same energy and candor” she brought to that role, to Fox viewers.

Leavitt becomes the second former Trump White House press secretary to move to Fox News, following Kayleigh McEnany, who joined the network in 2021.

Motherhood played a major role in her White House departure

Leavitt left her White House position only months after welcoming her second child.

She and her husband, Nicholas Riccio, welcomed daughter Viviana in May. The couple also shares son Niko, who was born two years earlier.

After returning from maternity leave, Leavitt spoke publicly about the challenge of balancing motherhood with the demands of one of the most visible jobs in Washington.

“Being a mother and welcoming a new baby while working in one of the most demanding jobs in the world has been the most rewarding yet challenging season of my life, to say the least,” she said.

Leavitt explained that she ultimately felt she could not devote the necessary time and attention to both responsibilities.

“The truth is since returning to the White House after the birth of my daughter, I have felt in my heart that I cannot be the best mom my two young children deserve while devoting the constant time, energy, and attention required of the White House Press Secretary,” she said.

Since leaving Washington, Leavitt has returned to New Hampshire, where she grew up, with her family.

Leavitt remains active after leaving Washington

Although she stepped down as press secretary, Leavitt made clear that leaving the White House did not mean disappearing from public life.

She said in August that she would continue working closely with President Donald Trump through MAGA Inc., an organization where she had previously served as a spokesperson. At the time, she did not reveal her specific new position or when she would begin.

“You guys will still see me all the time,” Leavitt told reporters while discussing her departure.

She acknowledged that she would miss working at the White House but explained where her priority stood, saying, “I love my kids even more.”

Her new Fox News position now provides another public role while keeping her outside the daily demands of serving as White House press secretary.

Beginning November 1, Leavitt will appear across Fox News programming as a contributor, bringing her experience from the White House and campaign trail into her new television role.
