LeBron James sends a strong message to Steph Curry ahead of their Christmas matchup

The top scorer in NBA history will be with the Lakers visiting the Warriors this Christmas on December 25.

The NBA Christmas Day game in 2025 could be the last of its kind for the league’s all-time leading scorer, LeBron James. Fittingly, he will face off against one of his greatest rivals, Stephen Curry.

Wednesday’s matchup at the Chase Center in San Francisco will be more than just another game between the Los Angeles Lakers and Golden State Warriors. At nearly 40 years old, the legendary forward knows his career is nearing its end. In fact, he has not ruled out the possibility of retiring this summer.

Every time you have the chance to be on the court and compete against one of the greatest to ever play this game, you don’t take it for granted,” LeBron told ESPN, referring to his matchup against Curry and what could be his farewell to Christmas Day games. “I donโ€™t know how many more chances weโ€™ll have to face each other, and I donโ€™t know if this will be my last Christmas Day game, so itโ€™s always fun.”

After facing off in four straight NBA Finals between 2015 and 2018, LeBron James and Stephen Curry have built a strong friendship. In fact, they intentionally teamed up earlier this season to lead Team USA to a gold medal at the Paris Olympics. “It was everything and more,” James told reporters in October about his Olympic experience with Curry.

The four-time MVP of both the regular season and the Finals also believes itโ€™s crucial to give everything heโ€™s got in the coming months to help the Lakers secure as many wins as possible: โ€œWinning now will be key so we donโ€™t have to empty the tank at the end and risk being worn out for the playoffs,โ€ he said.
