The Lakers were defeated in five games by the Denver Nuggets in the NBA Playoffs, it meant a goodbye for their head coach Darwin Ham
Darvin Ham has been let go by the Los Angeles Lakers following their disappointing exit from the NBA Playoffs, where they were defeated by the Denver Nuggets.
This has sparked a search for a new coach, with the plethora of available options leaving the team’s president, Jeanie Buss, uncertain about the best approach to take.
With newcomers, veterans and all those in between showing an interest in the Lakers job, especially as they’d get to work with LeBron James, the group has the chance to pick who they want. They’ve already scratched some off the list such as Mike Budenholzer and Charles Lee, who have signed elsewhere.
But who are they actually set to sign? The answer was revealedย by an NBA Adrian Wojnarowski of the ESPN.
NBA expert Adrian Wojnarowski recently highlighted that the Lakers are seriously considering JJ Redick as a potential coaching candidate.
During a recent discussion, Wojnarowski mentioned, “In their initial search efforts, one name that the Lakers are focusing on is JJ Redick. A familiar face at ESPN, he’s certainly caught the interest of the Lakers.”
Since ending his 15-year playing career in 2021, Redick has made a successful shift to broadcasting. He serves as an ESPN analyst and co-hosts the well-regarded podcast “Mind the Game” alongside LeBron James, continuing to demonstrate his deep understanding of basketball and leadership skills off the court.
Additionally, James Borrego is another strong contender for the coaching position. Currently serving as an assistant coach in New Orleans, Borrego has been recognized for his effective handling of the team’s offense, positioning him as a viable candidate for the Lakers’ coaching vacancy.
