‘Something happened’: Family friend recalls the devastating loss Chad Lowe’s daughter Fiona faced before her death at 13

A family friend is recalling the loss of Chad Lowe’s home in the Palisades fire as she mourns his 13-year-old daughter, Fiona.

Music executive Mykesha Robinson, whose daughter Faith was close to Fiona during elementary school, told the Daily Mail that she believed the fire had deeply affected the teenager.

“Something happened when the fires happened,” Robinson said. “They lost everything.”

Robinson’s comments describe her personal perspective on the family’s experience. The report does not establish that the fire caused Fiona’s death.

Fiona died by suicide on September 29. Her family told Page Six they were “deeply heartbroken.”

The home they returned to was gone

The Lowe family lost their California home in January 2025. They had lived there for more than a decade.

The following month, Chad shared photographs on Instagram showing his daughters returning to the property. The images captured Mabel, Fiona and Nixie wearing protective masks as they stood among the remains.

In his accompanying message, Chad explained that almost a month had passed since their evacuation before the girls could see what was left.

At the time, Chad praised how his family had coped, describing their response as “nothing short of remarkable.”

Robinson later reflected on that same loss while speaking about Fiona. Her account did not identify specific changes in the teenager’s behavior or provide further details about her life following the fire.

A friendship that began with an invitation

Robinson’s memories of Fiona reach back to the first day of school at Palisades Charter Elementary School.

Faith was having difficulty settling in when Fiona approached her and offered friendship. She also invited Faith to jump rope, Robinson recalled.

That introduction developed into a close bond. Robinson described the girls as inseparable during their elementary-school years and remembered Fiona as outgoing and comfortable approaching others.

For Robinson, those childhood encounters were examples of the girl she called a “ray of light.”

After graduating from elementary school, Faith and Fiona lost touch.

Faith’s recent attempt to reconnect

According to Robinson, Faith created an Instagram account roughly two weeks before the report and sent Fiona a request hoping to renew their friendship.

The request was not accepted. Faith wondered whether her former friend was upset with her or whether she had done something wrong, Robinson said.

The account provides no explanation for why the request went unanswered.

Robinson learned of Fiona’s death through social media. She told the Daily Mail that she had been crying over the news and had contacted Fiona’s mother, Kim Painter, but had not received a response.

Page Six also sought comment from Chad’s representative without receiving an immediate reply.

Fiona was the middle of Chad and Kim’s three daughters, between Mabel, 17, and Nixie, 10.

Robinson’s recollections bring together two parts of Fiona’s life: the childhood friendship she helped begin and the later loss of the family home. Her remarks express concern
