Carley Shimkus is a familiar face to Fox News viewers, but away from the studio, the Fox & Friends First co-host shares her life with her husband, Peter Buchignani, and their two sons.
Shimkus and Buchignani married in 2015 after a long-distance relationship. They welcomed their first son, Brock, in 2023, and their family grew again in July 2026 with the arrival of baby Harrison.
While Shimkus has built a career in television, Buchignani has followed a different path in finance. He also played football during his years at Princeton University.

From a long-distance relationship to marriage
The exact details of how Shimkus and Buchignani first met remain unclear, though reports suggest they had known each other since 2003. They began dating in 2013.
After maintaining a long-distance relationship, the couple married in 2015. According to Tuko News, the wedding took place at Shimkus’ family home in New Jersey.

Shimkus marked their 10th anniversary in August 2025 by sharing photographs on Instagram with the caption, “10 years.”
In one image, the couple stood together with the New York City skyline and East River ferry boats behind them. Friends, colleagues and followers responded with congratulations and anniversary wishes.
Peter’s career away from television
Buchignani grew up in Bloomington, Illinois, and attended Princeton University. According to his LinkedIn profile, he earned a bachelor’s degree in politics.
After college, he worked as a sales analyst at Barclays Investment Bank. He later worked in mortgage-backed securities sales at Deutsche Bank before joining Amherst Pierpont Securities in securitized products sales.
His time at Princeton also included college football. Buchignani played as a defensive end and received an All-Ivy honorable mention for a second consecutive season, according to the university’s athletics website.
While his wife’s broadcasting career has put her in front of viewers, Buchignani has generally kept a lower public profile.
Welcoming their first son, Brock
Shimkus and Buchignani became parents in January 2023 when their first child, Brock Edward, was born.
Shimkus announced his arrival on Instagram, sharing a glimpse of her newborn and writing about the love she and Buchignani felt for him.
“Welcome to the world sweet Brock. You have unlocked a place in our hearts we didn’t even know we had. Your dad and I love you so much!” she wrote.

As Brock grew, Shimkus reflected on how quickly he was changing and how much becoming parents had changed their lives.
Before welcoming her second child, she shared a collection of photographs of Brock and wrote about the memories they had made as a family of three.
“As we are getting ready to welcome a new baby, I am reflecting on so many happy memories as a family of three with my very funny, high energy boy,” she wrote.
A second son joins the family
Shimkus announced in March 2026 that she and Buchignani were expecting another boy. Speaking on Fox & Friends, she shared how excited they and Brock were about the new arrival.
“My husband and I and Brock, my son, who’s now three, are so excited,” she said. She described the pregnancy as “such a blessing from God” and expressed her hope that her sons would share a close bond as they grew up.
Their second son, Harrison, arrived in July 2026. Shimkus’ Fox News colleagues announced his birth on Fox & Friends, where correspondent Ashley Strohmier shared an update on the family.
“We are so happy to report both mom and baby are doing great,” Strohmier said.
Ainsley Earhardt, who visited Shimkus in the hospital, said the new mother looked “amazing.” Earhardt thought Harrison resembled his father, while Brock took after his mother.
With Harrison’s arrival, Shimkus and Buchignani became parents of two boys, beginning a new chapter in the family life they have built together.
