Maria Bartiromo has spoken publicly for the first time since her unexpected departure from Fox News Media, thanking supporters for their messages while signaling that there is more ahead.
The veteran financial journalist addressed her followers on X after Fox announced last week that her run with the company had ended following more than 12 years.
Bartiromo thanked those who have reached out since the news and concluded her message with three words that immediately pointed toward the future: “More to come.”
Her comments arrive as questions continue to surround both the circumstances of her Fox departure and what she could choose to do next.
Bartiromo promises to ‘be back soon’ with her ‘next moves’
Bartiromo has now addressed her supporters following her unexpected departure from Fox News Media, using her first public messages to express gratitude while also making clear that she intends to return.
In an Instagram post, Bartiromo thanked her friends, followers and supporters for the messages she had received over the previous week.
“Before too much time passes, I want to thank all of my friends, followers and supporters for all of the kind words,” she wrote. “I am so grateful for the outpouring of love this past week on social media & through texts.”
Bartiromo then offered perhaps her clearest indication yet that she is already looking toward what comes next.
“I love you all and I promise to be back soon w my next moves,” she wrote.
She shared a similar message on X, again thanking friends and followers for their support while posting a photograph she had taken of a rainbow breaking through the clouds.
“Thank you to all friends & followers for your amazing words,” Bartiromo wrote. “I am so grateful for the outpouring of love on SM & texts. I love you all.”
She concluded that message with another brief hint about her future: “More to come.”
Bartiromo did not provide details about what her “next moves” will be or announce a new professional role in either message.
Questions remain over her Fox News departure
Bartiromo’s exit has been followed by conflicting accounts about what happened behind the scenes.
The Status newsletter reported that she had been accused of sharing an internal Fox document with the White House. According to the report, the correspondence concerned Fox’s decision to limit coverage of President Donald Trump’s primetime speech about the 2020 election and his claims that others, including China, had interfered in the election.
Bartiromo’s attorney, Bryan Freedman, has pushed back strongly against reports that she was fired.
“The irresponsible reports that have been published stating that Maria Bartiromo was fired or is no longer an employee of Fox are absolutely and unequivocally false,” Freedman said.
He also indicated that Bartiromo’s side was prepared to challenge the accounts being reported.
“Make no mistake, we have the receipts and witnesses and they will come out whether through the courthouse or otherwise,” Freedman said.
Reports link Bartiromo to another major network
While Bartiromo herself has not announced her next career move, reports have already connected her with another major television news organization.
According to Rob Shuter’s Naughty But Nice newsletter, Bartiromo and CBS News editor-in-chief Bari Weiss have discussed the possibility of working together.
One television insider quoted by Shuter claimed that a potential role at 60 Minutes is among the possibilities being discussed.
“Maria and Bari have already spoken,” the insider said. “Maria isn’t sitting around licking her wounds. She’s moving fast, and 60 Minutes is absolutely in the mix.”
The report does not amount to an announcement that Bartiromo is joining CBS News or 60 Minutes, and Bartiromo has not publicly confirmed such a move.
For now, her brief message to supporters represents her first public response since leaving Fox News Media.
Fans responding to her post made clear that many are waiting to see where she appears next. One longtime viewer said they had followed Bartiromo’s business reporting for 21 years at CNBC and another 13 years at Fox Business and were now waiting to learn where they could watch her again.
Bartiromo has yet to provide that answer. But with her promise of “More to come,” she has given her followers a reason to keep watching for her next announcement.
