An arrogant, wealthy man passed away and, in his will, he left $50,000 in cash to each of his three most trusted advisors: his accountant, his doctor, and his lawyer. He gave them one unusual instruction… he wanted each of them to place the money in his coffin before he was buried.
After the funeral, the three men met for coffee. The accountant sighed and said, “I have to admit, I couldn’t go through with it. I only put $20,000 in the coffin… I kept the rest.”
The doctor nodded and said, “Honestly, I did the same. I only put $10,000 in. I felt bad, but I kept the rest.”
The lawyer looked at both of them, shocked, and said, “I’m ashamed of you both. I can’t believe you’d do something like that… I put the full $50,000 in.”
The other two stared at him in disbelief.
The lawyer calmly took a sip of his coffee and added, “Of course… I wrote him a check.”
