After tragic loss, Alan Jackson’s daughter finds love again. Where is the country icon’s daughter now?

Country legend Alan Jackson is widely recognized for his enduring music career, but away from the spotlight, his role as a father has remained just as meaningful.

He and his wife Denise Jackson share three daughters, though it is their eldest, Mattie Denise Jackson, whose life story has drawn particular attention in recent years.

Born on June 19, 1990, Mattie grew up as the first of the couple’s three daughters, followed by sisters Alexandra and Dani.

A Life Marked by Love and Loss

Mattie’s personal life took a heartbreaking turn shortly after her wedding in October 2017 to Assistant District Attorney Ben Selecman. The couple, who first met at a mutual friend’s wedding and later reconnected, had only just begun their married life when tragedy struck.

Just weeks before their first anniversary, Selecman died following an accident in Jupiter, Florida. Speaking to PEOPLE in September 2021, Mattie reflected on their short time together, saying they were still in the “honeymoon phase” and describing her husband as joyful, outgoing and deeply loved by those around him.

In the wake of that loss, Mattie chose to share her experience through writing, publishing her book Lemons on Friday, which documents her journey through grief. Her story has resonated with many who have faced similar challenges, offering a candid perspective on healing and faith.

A New Chapter of Love and Family

In 2023, Mattie found love again, marrying Connor Smith and beginning a new chapter centered on family and growth. The following year brought another milestone, as the couple welcomed their son, Wesley Alan Smith, on June 20, 2024.

Motherhood marked a significant turning point, reflecting a life that had shifted from grief to renewal. Just one year after becoming parents, the couple is now expecting another child, continuing to build their family together.
