Kristin is a finance student at the university. According to the supplied reporting, she suffered multiple fractures in the fall from The Rambler apartment building.

Her father said the family was fortunate she was alive, while the responding officer’s report indicated that she was expected to survive.
Witness accounts help police reconstruct the fall
Police were dispatched at approximately 7:30 p.m., according to the New York Post.
Responding officer Erik Ellison recorded witness descriptions of Kristin dancing on either a sofa or an air mattress beside an open window. She reportedly fell through the opening and landed on the pool deck below.
Ellison found her on the ground near the pool. He noted blood on a metal bench’s cushion and a broken armrest, which led him to believe she had struck the bench during the fall.
Other witnesses reportedly suggested that a lounge chair might have interrupted her fall before she reached the ground. The accounts do not establish exactly how she landed.

Kristin was also interviewed at the hospital. According to the police report cited in the coverage, the statements gathered suggested an accident.
Building management addresses window safeguards
Following the incident, residents received a message reminding them that windows throughout the complex had safety limiters, Channel 2 reported.
Management warned residents against interfering with, removing or disengaging those devices.
Authorities had not established whether a safety limiter was engaged on the window from which Kristin fell.
The Rambler’s management said it was cooperating with investigators and reviewing the circumstances.
“Our thoughts are with our resident, and we are wishing for a speedy recovery,” a spokesperson told the New York Post.
While investigators continued gathering information, Kristin’s father remained focused on her recovery and the fact that she had survived.
