Former CNN host announces departure from MSNBC after two years, fans react to surprise exit

Ana Cabrera confirms exit from MSNBC after two years on morning show

Ana Cabrera has announced she will step away from her role at MSNBC, confirming that the decision comes from her own direction after two years with the network.

The anchor, who currently leads the 10 a.m. program, shared the update in a video message to viewers following the network’s March 18 programming changes. She made clear that the move reflects her personal and professional priorities rather than an abrupt or external shift.

“Throughout my career, I’ve always sought the best opportunities to do this work and have the greatest impact while staying true to myself and mission as a journalist,” Cabrera said.

A decision rooted in journalistic purpose

Cabrera emphasized that her approach to reporting has remained consistent throughout her time on air, highlighting her focus on accountability and fact-based coverage.

“My goal has always been to educate and inform and shine light, to hold people at power accountable, people on all sides of the political aisle and non-politicians, as well, to be a government watchdog, to bring you compelling stories from across a broad range of news and to always seek the truth, following the facts wherever they lead,” she said. She added that this commitment will continue beyond her current role.

The journalist joined MSNBC in 2023 after spending nearly a decade at CNN. Reflecting on her time with the network, she described herself as “truly grateful,” offering thanks to her colleagues, production team, and viewers who supported her work.

Cabrera confirmed she will remain on air for the next few months before officially stepping away, noting that further details about her next move will be shared at a later time.

“I wanted to give you a heads up and I look forward to sharing more about what’s next for me soon,” she told viewers.

Audience reaction highlights strong connection

The announcement quickly prompted reactions online, with viewers expressing both surprise and appreciation for her work.

Some questioned whether her statement suggested deeper circumstances behind the decision, while others focused on her impact as a broadcaster.

“Always enjoy watching you on the air. Looking forward to see what’s next for you,” one viewer wrote.

Another added: “MSNOW is losing a great anchor… You stood out at CNN and MSNOW with credibility and integrity.”

Others echoed similar sentiments, with one viewer noting: “You’re the only reason I tune in in the AM. Best of luck and will follow you to your next venture.”

A career marked by notable transitions

This is not the first time Cabrera has made a high-profile career move. In 2022, she departed CNN after nearly ten years with the network.

At the time, she acknowledged the difficulty of the transition, writing, “Goodbyes are hard. Thank you CNN for everything,” while also expressing anticipation for a new chapter.

Her latest decision now marks another significant shift, as she prepares to close her current chapter at MSNBC while signaling future plans still to come.
