The Nerazzurri captain who decided the Supercoppa: “After being eliminated from the Coppa Italia, we had to seize this opportunity.”

“I am very happy; the Supercoppa was our season objective.” These are the words of the ‘Man of the Match’ in the Italian Supercup final, Lautaro Martinez, who decided the match against Napoli in Riyadh, securing the trophy for Inter.

“After being eliminated from the Coppa Italia, we had a great opportunity today, and we managed to seize it. We played a great match against Lazio, and today we finished our job,” continued the Inter captain. “It was tough match and we had one less day to rest, but in the end, we brought the title home. I am proud of this team.”

Lautaro Martinez has scored 123 goals for Inter in all competitions, equaling Christian Vieri in ninth place among the club’s all-time top scorers. “There was emotion in that run. I didn’t want to take off the shirt for the yellow card, but it’s a unique moment. I reached 100 with Inter in the Coppa Italia, and today I matched a great player like him.

“We did well to stay in the game until the end. We are very happy to bring this trophy at home. I am very happy. Now we have to return to Milan, celebrate, but from tomorrow, we will think about facing Fiorentina, which will be a tough match.”
