The Rossoneri coach after the comeback victory against Udinese: “Inter and Juve are going at a very high pace, we only think about our next match.”
A pleased Stefano Pioli reacted on the comeback victory against Udinese, stating: “These wins give us confidence and conviction to have a good second half of the season and achieve something more, but we musn’t start thinking about April and May. We want to be protagonists, but at the moment, Inter and Juve are moving at a very high pace. We need to take one game at a time and do our best.”
The Rossoneri coach also wanted to send a message to the racists who forced referee Maresca to suspend the match for a few minutes: “Maignan was disappointed, but I am proud to coach a person like him. It’s time to stop seeing these episodes in Italy, I am tired of this; the ignorant ones should stay at home.”
Pioli then spoke more specifically about the match: “In the first half, we should have scored a few more goals, then out of nowhere, we conceded 2. This game shows that when you believe in your qualities, you can win. We knew it wouldn’t be easy, but we interpreted it well.”
He then gave an assessment of Leao: “The tactical, technical, and mental growth of Rafa is complete. The numbers are clear he has been more productive compared to the last seasons. To be honest, we changed the way we play a bit this season; now we have fewer counterattacks, and the spaces for him are smaller. He is learning to move in less tight spaces. I think he misses scoring, but for us, the team comes first.”
