Allegri: ‘Inter are the favorites to win the league, we just want a top 4 finish’

Massimiliano Allegri insist Inter are the Serie A title favourites and reveals Manuel Locatelli will be available tomorrow.

In the highly anticipated clash between Juventus and Inter, Juve manager Massimiliano Allegri spoke at a press conference, acknowledging the significance of the match in their developmental journey.

“Tomorrow’s game against Inter is important for us, a part of our ongoing development. It’s a significant fixture as we face the favorites for the title. Psychologically, it holds importance, though not decisive. I’m content with my team, and we know we’re up against a strong side, probably more prepared than us,” said Allegri.

Juventus has been contending with injuries, and Allegri provided updates on the team’s status. Tim Weah and Danilo will miss the game, while Alex Sandro and Locatelli are available.

โ€œAlex Sandro is back, Danilo will return before the Monza game. Weโ€™ll assess Weah. Locatelli has trained over the last three days. Tomorrow, I will decide if he will start or go on the bench,” he added.

Allegri emphasized continuity in the team’s system, stating, “I donโ€™t think it would be good to change the system after 12 games. We can do it during the game, but we have no problems in the middle. Everyone is quite fit in attack.”

Regarding the starting lineup in the attacking department, Allegri remained coy, saying, โ€œI will decide tomorrow. Chiesa played well with the national team. Tomorrow I will decide the center forward picking one between Milik, Vlahovic, and Kean.”

Responding to questions about his earlier comments on Inter, Allegri downplayed any controversy, stating, โ€œI donโ€™t think they were upset. The Scudetto is their target. They said so. Our path is different, but we want the best. Our target is to return to the Champions League, and the lads are doing well.”

Allegri concluded by expressing readiness for the Derby dโ€™Italia, saying, โ€œJuve-Inter is the Derby dโ€™Italia, and we are ready to play as we are ready to play other games. We need a good performance, knowing that we play against a strong team. Details make the difference in big games.”

He remained cautious about the title race, acknowledging Inter as favorites but suggesting, “Tomorrowโ€™s game is the most important thing as nobody knows what will happen in two months. We must be able to face any sudden change without losing our certainties. I have an extraordinary group of players who will do well tomorrow.”
