Fox News personality Kat Timpf has shared an emotional tribute to Cheens, the beloved cat who spent nearly 16 years by her side before dying only days before the unexpected death of her father.
Marking what would have been their 16th anniversary together, Timpf posted a collection of personal photographs documenting the bond they shared. The images showed Cheens resting against her face, sleeping beside her and remaining close throughout different chapters of her life.
The deeply personal update received approximately 66,300 likes and more than 5,100 comments as people offered comfort and shared their own experiences of losing cherished animals.
For Timpf, Cheens was never simply a pet. He was the living being whose heartbeat she had felt beside her own more than anyone else’s.

Timpf opened her message by acknowledging the anniversary she and Cheens would have celebrated.
“Today would have been mine and @cheenstimpf’s 16th anniversary,” she wrote.
She explained that Cheens deserved a tribute of his own rather than being mentioned only briefly in the post she later wrote about her father’s death.
Timpf had already prepared a message about Cheens after he died. However, before she could properly share it, her father, Daniel Timpf, died unexpectedly just six days later.
The two losses became painfully connected.
She described the original message as a “haunting time capsule” written by a grieving woman who had no idea that an even greater heartbreak was only days away.
Cheens had been part of Timpf’s life for almost 16 years, accompanying her through adulthood, marriage, serious health challenges and the beginning of motherhood.
The photographs showed the quiet closeness behind her words. In one image, Cheens rested across her chest with his head pressed against her face. Another captured the two sleeping beside each other in bed.
Cheens tried to comfort her in his final moments
The most emotional part of Timpf’s message concerned Cheens’ final moments.
She recalled that while his breathing had become labored, he continued rubbing his head against her face as though he were trying to comfort her.
Cheens was the one dying, she noted, yet his final instinct appeared to be offering affection to the person who had loved him throughout his life.
“Love like that doesn’t come around very often,” Timpf wrote.
She added that she would always be grateful Cheens had chosen to spend his entire life giving that love to her.
His last gesture captured the relationship Timpf described throughout the tribute: a bond built on years of companionship, trust and comfort.
Her message made clear that his absence left more than an empty space in her home. It marked the loss of a constant presence who had remained physically and emotionally close to her for nearly half of her life.
Her father died only six days later
Timpf’s grief over Cheens was quickly followed by another devastating loss.
Her father, Daniel Timpf, died unexpectedly on May 7 at age 69, just six days after Cheens.
In her tribute to her father, Timpf explained that calling Daniel simply her “dad” could not fully express what he meant to her. She also remembered him as her rock, hero and best friend.
Daniel was described as a painter, sailor and writer who appeared capable of discussing almost any subject.
His death arrived after a year already marked by enormous changes for his daughter.
Timpf had received a breast cancer diagnosis shortly before giving birth to her first child. She subsequently underwent a double mastectomy and additional medical procedures while adjusting to motherhood.
She was declared cancer-free in April 2025, but her recovery and further surgeries continued.
The birth of her son, Daniel’s first grandchild, had been expected to open a joyful new chapter for the family. Instead, Timpf found herself processing new motherhood, cancer treatment and two painful losses in close succession.
Her delayed tribute to Cheens revealed how one period of grief was overtaken almost immediately by another.

Timpf brought her characteristic humor to the announcement, holding Juan while he wore a teal hoodie matching the color of her nails.
A day earlier, she shared a photograph of herself with Juan and wrote, “Baddies missing body parts,” connecting his missing eye with her own experience undergoing a double mastectomy.
Juan has since gained an online following through an Instagram account called The Juan-Eyed Cat.
One person commenting on the Cheens tribute suggested that he had “made sure to send you Juan,” connecting Timpf’s longtime companion with the newest member of her family.
