The locker room guy? Not only that, Ibra now wants more: what is missing for his return

In recent discussions with the ownership and management, the Swede has expressed the desire to change his approach to football: he wants to become an international figure, not just stay at Milanello.

According to ‘Gazzetta dello Sport‘ all that remains now is to wait. It was the man himself who, last Tuesday, posted a cryptic message on social media writing: ‘Tic tac, tic tac,’ accompanied by a close-up photo of him with a menacing look. Now, the doubts are no longer ‘if’ but ‘when’ will Zlatan Ibrahimovic return.

As of now, things stand like this: We are left with the recent meeting of Ibra and Cardinale in Milan on November 6, on the eve of the crucial match against PSG. Zlatan and the head of RedBird had a meeting at the hotel where the parties went straight to the point, focusing particularly on the role to be assigned to the Swede. This became the central point of the negotiations, certainly more so than the financial aspect.

As the days pass, his role is being directly linked to ownership with Zlatan serving RedBird as one of the main consultants. It revolves around the figure of Cardinale, a kind of personal advisor to AC Milan’s first man. This is because a behind-the-scenes detail emerged, confirming the direction in which Ibra was heading. The Swede, in fact, reportedly told the ownership and management that he did not want to play a purely “on-field” role.

In other words, Zlatan does not intend to spend all his days at Milanello, although this might be part of his activities, it would not be his exclusive focus. Those who know him well have explained that Ibra wants to change the type of footballing life, making it different from what he has done for many years until now.

Ibra’s role is still to be formally defined in terms of activities and scope of action, but the direction is clear. This is because the club has reiterated several times that there are no strictly managerial positions envisaged for the Swede. In other words no imminent announcement is expected, but an agreement is close, or in Ibra’s words: ‘Tic tac’ ‘Tic Tac’.
