Fox News has revealed who will temporarily take over one of Maria Bartiromo’s programs following the veteran journalist’s unexpected departure from the network earlier this month.
Bartiromo’s more than 12-year run with Fox News Media ended on September 3, when the company announced that she was no longer with the organization. No reason for her departure was provided in the announcement.
Now, Fox Business Network new host has been selected to temporarily take charge of Sunday Morning Futures, one of three programs previously hosted by Bartiromo. The new host will begin his job the Sunday morning program this weekend and is expected to remain in the position through November 8, according to Fox News Media.
A temporary replacement to take over the Sunday program
Larry Kudlow has been chosen and he will host Sunday Morning Futures from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. ET, but his appointment is not permanent.
“A new host will be named at a later date,” Fox News Media said in a statement provided to The U.S. Sun.
The temporary assignment places Kudlow at the helm of a program closely associated with Bartiromo during her years at the network.
Bartiromo also hosted Mornings with Maria Bartiromo on Fox Business, where she discussed domestic and international issues alongside panels of industry experts. Her third program, Maria Bartiromo’s Wall Street, aired on Friday nights.
Fox has not yet announced a permanent successor for Bartiromo on Sunday Morning Futures.
Kudlow, however, already has an established presence within Fox Business.
He joined the network in 2021 and hosts a market-close program airing at 4 p.m. ET. According to the network, his show has “consistently ranked as the most-watched show in business television.”
His interviews have included President Donald Trump, House Speaker Mike Johnson, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk.
Before joining Fox Business, Kudlow had a long career at CNBC. He also served in the Trump administration as assistant to the president for economic policy and director of the National Economic Council from 2018 until 2021.
Earlier in his career, Kudlow served during the Reagan administration as associate director for economics and planning at the Office of Management and Budget.
Bartiromo’s departure came without a public explanation
Bartiromo’s exit was announced only hours after an edition of Mornings with Maria aired without her appearance.
Fox News Media subsequently confirmed that her tenure with the company had ended.
“We thank Maria for her work over the last 12 ½ years and wish her all the best on her next chapter,” the network said.
Fox did not provide a reason for Bartiromo’s departure in the statement.
The move ended a lengthy period in which Bartiromo maintained a significant presence across both Fox News and Fox Business through three separate programs.
Trump reacted to Bartiromo’s Fox exit
President Donald Trump publicly reacted shortly after news of Bartiromo’s departure emerged.
“I can’t believe Maria Bartiromo is no longer going to have her great show(s) on FoxNews/Business,” Trump wrote.
He noted that Bartiromo had hosted three different programs and described her as a “total professional, and a true warrior.”
Trump also predicted that her fans “will not be happy” about her departure.
While questions remain about Bartiromo’s next chapter and the eventual permanent host of Sunday Morning Futures, Fox has now answered one immediate question by turning to Kudlow to guide the program through November 8.
For the time being, viewers accustomed to seeing Bartiromo on Sunday mornings will instead see another familiar Fox Business personality occupying the anchor chair, while the network continues its search for a permanent host.
