Fox News senior White House correspondent Jacqui Heinrich entered a new chapter in her personal life this summer when she married Pennsylvania Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick after nearly five years together.
The couple exchanged vows on June 20, 2026, at Saint Patrick’s Cathedral in New York City, less than a year after Fitzpatrick proposed during a sunrise visit to a lavender field in France.
While Heinrich is familiar to Fox News viewers, her husband has spent much of his career in public service, including 14 years as an FBI special agent and federal prosecutor before entering Congress.
Their relationship has unfolded alongside demanding careers in Washington, but the couple’s story began with a memorable first date in 2021.
From the FBI to Capitol Hill
Fitzpatrick was born in Philadelphia in 1973 and studied business administration at La Salle University. According to his congressional biography, he later attended Pennsylvania State University, earning both a Master of Business Administration and a Juris Doctor.
Before entering elected office, Fitzpatrick spent 14 years working as an FBI special agent and federal prosecutor.
According to his official biography, his work involved domestic and international political corruption as well as counterterrorism and counterintelligence efforts. He was also embedded with U.S. Special Forces as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
His FBI career included serving as national director of the agency’s Campaign Finance and Election Crimes Enforcement Program and as a national supervisor for its Public Corruption Unit.
Fitzpatrick reflected warmly on that period of his life during a March 2025 interview with CBS News.
“I’m a huge defender and supporter of the Bureau,” he said, describing it as both the “best job” and “most honorable job” he had ever held.
His career eventually took him from federal law enforcement into elected office when he successfully ran for the U.S. House of Representatives in 2016.
He began serving in Congress in January 2017. Fitzpatrick’s brother, Mike, had previously represented the seat for four terms before retiring.
Fitzpatrick was reelected to a fifth term in November 2024 and represents Pennsylvania’s first district, covering Bucks County and portions of Montgomery County.
A relationship that began in Washington
Heinrich and Fitzpatrick began dating in 2021, with their first date taking place at the Kennedy Center Honors on December 5 of that year.
Although they were not photographed together at the event in 2021, they later appeared together on the red carpet at the 2023 and 2024 Kennedy Center Honors.
Both were already established in careers closely connected to Washington.
Heinrich joined Fox News in September 2018 and currently serves as a senior White House correspondent. She also co-hosts The FOX News Rundown podcast and the political affairs program The Sunday Briefing.
Fitzpatrick, meanwhile, had already been serving in Congress for several years when their relationship began.
Despite their demanding professional lives, Heinrich told PEOPLE in July 2025 that she and Fitzpatrick enjoy traveling and experiencing different cultures when they have an opportunity to get away from Washington.
“We love to see different cultural sights and experience the rest of the world because we’re both pretty dialed into what’s happening in Washington all the time with our jobs,” she said.
Heinrich shares what she loves about Fitzpatrick
Heinrich has also spoken openly about the qualities that drew her to her future husband.
In her 2025 interview with PEOPLE, she described Fitzpatrick as “the most principled, thoughtful and brilliant person I know.”
“I love his brain,” Heinrich said. “I love the way he approaches problem-solving and solving complex issues.”
She also spoke about the importance of his faith and character in their relationship, describing him as strong, sweet, gentle and kind.
“He’s strong and a man of faith, who brings me closer to God,” Heinrich said.
A surprise proposal in the South of France
Four years after their relationship began, Fitzpatrick proposed during a trip to France on June 29, 2025.
Heinrich had previously told him that visiting the South of France was a dream of hers. While organizing their vacation, the couple created a list of places they hoped to experience, including the lavender fields of Provence.
They drove from Nice to Valensole to see the fields at sunrise. Fitzpatrick offered to photograph Heinrich before surprising her by getting down on one knee with a brilliant-cut round diamond.
Heinrich told PEOPLE that Fitzpatrick planned the proposal without assistance from her or anyone she knew, making his ability to create exactly the moment she would have wanted even more surprising.
“It was so breathtaking,” she recalled of the setting. “The smell was just so fragrant. It’s a memory that will be seared into my brain for life.”
She described the experience as feeling “like a fairy tale.”
After celebrating and taking photographs in the lavender field, they stopped at a local coffee shop before continuing their travels to St. Tropez and Cannes.
Their New York City wedding
Less than a year after their engagement, Heinrich and Fitzpatrick married at Saint Patrick’s Cathedral in New York City on June 20, 2026.
Their wedding celebration continued with a reception aboard the Horizon’s Edge Yacht, where the newlyweds shared their first dance to Frankie Valli’s “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You.”
New York held personal significance for both Heinrich and Fitzpatrick long before it became the setting for their wedding.
“New York is significant to both of our lives — it was Jacqui’s first assignment as a network news reporter and Brian’s first assignment as an FBI agent,” the couple told PEOPLE. They also noted that both have family connections to the state.
Their wedding marked another milestone in a relationship that began at the Kennedy Center Honors, continued through their respective careers in journalism and government, and led to a proposal in the lavender fields of France.
Heinrich and Fitzpatrick are now planning to take their honeymoon in the summer of 2027.
