Marotta: “We want the second star. Inzaghi is a true leader. Lukaku? He is already forgotten…”

Speaking on Radio Anch’Io Sport on Radio1, Inter Milan’s CEO said: “We want to win the Scudetto to add the second star. Europe is a dream that nearly came true last year. Lukaku? Belongs to the past

The Inter Milan CEO, Giuseppe Marotta, spoke to Radio Anch’Io Lo Sport on Radio 1, praising the team’s brilliant start to the new Serie A campaign with 5 wins out of 5 games. He said:

The reality is that we want to win the Scudetto to add the second star to our jersey. Europe is a dream that nearly came true last year. Nevertheless, we have an obligation to give our best for all our objectives and try to win everything.”

The only downside to this week’s victory against Empoli was Arnautovic‘s injury: “We’re sorry for Marko, he was fitting in well with the team, but I am confident that Inzaghi will find the right solutions.”

Simone Inzaghi

Marotta also had special words for the coach Simone Inzaghi who is doing a splendid job with the team: “He has been very good; Inter is his team, it belongs to him and his philosophy. He is the true leader, and the players are following his instructions.”

Federico Dimarco

“I am very happy for Federico; he is one of the few players with a great loyalty to the club. We are very proud to have him. In terms of his value, it continues to grow, and I believe he can still improve. He is still very young. His growth has surprised me a lot; we didn’t imagine he could reach these levels.”

“Now he is one of the best full-backs, not only in Italy but also in Europe. Credit goes to him and his dedication. We will talk with our director Ausilio. I would like to talk about an extension rather than a renewal; it means both parties find shared values.”

Renewals

“We are also considering renewals for Mkhitaryan, Darmian, and Sanchez, but it’s not the right time to delve into these matters. We will do it at the right time, starting from the concept: if a player shows he wants to stay, it makes everything much easier.”

Romelu Lukaku

Regarding the Lukaku, Marotta said: “We were disappointed because there was a warm relationship, but we were smart to find alternatives. He is now part of the past; the world of football is strange, and we must adapt to what has happened. We must move forward.”
