Pete Hegseth’s wife draws attention after White House dinner dress linked to Temu

White House Correspondents’ Dinner look sparks online debate as viral claim draws mixed reactions

The appearance of Jennifer Rauchet at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner quickly became a talking point online, after social media users began circulating claims about the origin of her outfit.

Rauchet attended the April 25 event alongside Pete Hegseth, with the pair photographed together on the red carpet at the Washington Hilton before entering the high-profile gathering.

Images from the evening later appeared on X, where users compared her dress to a listing on the online marketplace Temu, priced at approximately $14.

Social media comparison drives conversation

The discussion gained traction after one user posted side-by-side images of Rauchet and a similar dress available online, writing that she had worn a Temu design to the event.

That post quickly drew widespread attention, prompting a range of reactions from other users on the platform. Some questioned whether the dress was indeed the same item, while others suggested that the comparison may not reflect the full picture.

One commenter pointed out that Temu is often accused of replicating existing designs, while another claimed that a nearly identical version exists from Ronald Joyce, identifying it as the Veni Infantino 992217S dress.

“Temu steals images and creates cheap knock-offs,” one user wrote, arguing that the resemblance alone does not confirm the source of the garment.

Despite the differing opinions, the visual similarity between the two dresses remained a central part of the conversation, keeping the topic active across the platform.

High-profile event overshadowed by unfolding incident

The online discussion unfolded alongside more serious developments at the same event. According to the details provided, a suspected gunman entered the Washington Hilton during the dinner, leading to a confrontation that resulted in a Secret Service agent being wounded.

Authorities later identified the suspect as Cole Tomas Allen, a 31-year-old teacher and video game developer from California. He was arrested and charged with assault on a federal officer and use of a firearm during a crime of violence.

He is scheduled to be arraigned on Monday, April 27.

The dinner itself brought together prominent political figures and members of the media, with Rauchet among the attendees whose presence was noted during the evening.

As the event drew national attention, a single outfit comparison unexpectedly became one of the most widely discussed moments online, illustrating how quickly social media conversations can shape the narrative around high-profile appearances.
