Anita Vogel has returned to television after months away, sharing a deeply personal update with viewers as she rejoined The Big Weekend Show following what she described as one of the most painful periods of her life.
The veteran correspondent confirmed her return on Saturday, telling followers on X that she would be back on air after stepping away to cope with family tragedy. “2025 was a heartbreaking and tragic year for our family,” Vogel wrote, calling the period one of the hardest they have endured.
Vogel, 56, has worked as the Los Angeles correspondent for Fox News since 2001. In her message, she explained that her decision to return was part of a gradual process of healing after enduring multiple losses in a short span of time.
Returning to air after loss and disruption
According to Vogel, the past year brought a series of devastating events. She shared that her family survived the Palisades Fire in January, only to later face the death of her husband of 13 years. She wrote that her husband died in October due to complications from pancreatic cancer, a loss that led her to take several months away from work.
“It has been the hardest of times for our family,” Vogel said on X, explaining that she needed time to process what she called an unimaginable loss. She added that moving forward has been a day-by-day effort, guided by faith and the support of those closest to her.
Vogel said returning to work was not about rushing past grief, but about restoring routine. “Part of the healing journey includes slowly getting back to work to help bring a sense of normalcy,” she shared, noting that this step felt right for her at this stage.
She also thanked friends and family for keeping the situation private while offering support, and expressed gratitude to viewers who have continued to follow her career. Vogel said she was looking forward to being back on the show with what she described as a welcoming cast and loyal audience.
The announcement prompted an outpouring of responses from viewers, many of whom shared condolences and messages of encouragement. One fan who had also lost a spouse recommended a grief meditation book, a suggestion Vogel acknowledged by replying that she planned to purchase it. She also personally thanked other viewers who expressed sympathy and spoke about her late husband’s pride in her work.
Vogel officially returned to the network on January 31, marking her first appearance since stepping away to grieve and recover.
