Today’s Savannah Guthrie shares heartbreaking message as police hunt for her missing mother

As authorities intensify their search in southern Arizona, Savannah Guthrie has shared a deeply emotional message as investigators work to locate her missing mother, 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie, whose disappearance is now being treated as a suspected abduction.

On Monday evening, Savannah Guthrie, the 54-year-old co-host of the Today show, took to Instagram to share a heartfelt appeal amid the ongoing search for her 84-year-old mother, Nancy Guthrie.

Accompanying a simple graphic that read “Please pray,” she expressed her family’s deep reliance on collective support and spiritual strength.

““We believe in voices raised in unison, in love, in hope. we believe in goodness. we believe in humanity. above all, we believe in Him.”

“Raise your prayers with us and believe with us that she will be lifted by them in this very moment,” she wrote.

This post reflects the family’s plea for Nancy’s swift and safe return as the investigation continues. Prayers and positive thoughts are welcomed during this difficult time.

Investigation escalates as home labeled a crime scene

The Pima County Sheriff’s Department said detectives believe Nancy Guthrie was taken from her home against her will, possibly during the night. Sheriff Chris Nanos confirmed that evidence found inside the residence led authorities to formally classify the property as a crime scene.

According to reporting by the Los Angeles Times, investigators discovered DNA and blood inside the home. Despite those findings, Nancy’s wallet, cellphone, and vehicle were all left behind, further raising concern that she did not leave voluntarily.

In an interview with NBC, Nanos made a public plea directed at whoever may be responsible, urging them to contact authorities and release the elderly woman safely. He emphasized that the priority is her immediate wellbeing and return to her family.

Health concerns heighten urgency of search

Nancy Guthrie was last seen Saturday night after being brought home following a family dinner. Alarm was raised when she failed to attend church the next morning. Authorities say she lives alone and has limited mobility, requiring daily medication that could place her life at risk if she does not receive it.

Despite her physical limitations, investigators stressed that she is mentally alert and not suffering from cognitive impairment, with Nanos describing her as “sharp as a tack.” Search efforts have expanded to include volunteers, drones, K9 units, and a helicopter as detectives continue to follow up on tips.

Savannah Guthrie’s message of faith and gratitude was echoed on air when co-host Craig Melvin read a statement thanking the public for their prayers, underscoring that the family’s sole focus remains on Nancy Guthrie’s safe return.
