After a whirlwind of health rumors and a heartfelt prayer request from her sister Freida, the 79-year-old country icon popped up in a video message looking radiant in red fringe, black slacks, and peep-toe heels and made one thing perfectly clear: “I ain’t dead yet!”
Fans Feared the Worst — Then Dolly Spoke
It all started when Dolly postponed six shows from her Las Vegas residency, “Dolly: Live in Las Vegas,” citing health challenges that required medical procedures. The news shook her fanbase and Freida’s emotional Facebook post asking the world to “pray for my sister” only deepened the concern.
Freida wrote, “She hasn’t been feeling her best lately… I truly believe in the power of prayer.”
But in true Dolly fashion, the “Jolene” singer turned the moment around with grace and a wink:
“Do I look sick to you?” she said in the new video, filmed on October 8. “I wanted to put everybody’s mind at ease… I’m OK!”
The Real Story Behind the Rumors
Dolly acknowledged that she’s dealing with “some problems” but assured fans there’s no serious illness behind the scenes.
“I didn’t take care of myself the way I should have when Carl was very sick,” she admitted, referencing the difficult period when her husband Carl Dean was ill and later passed away.
“I let a lot of things go… Nothing major. But I did have to cancel some things to be closer to home.”
