One of America’s most elite universities just made a very unconventional addition to its faculty and critics are calling it a “complete joke.”
LaW*ore Vagistan, the drag persona of professor Kareem Khubchandani, has been tapped by Harvard University to teach two eyebrow-raising courses: “RuPaulitics: Drag, Race, and Desire” and “Queer Ethnography.”
The appointment quickly ignited a firestorm across social media, with critics branding the Ivy League institution a “joke” and mocking the move as another sign of Harvard’s declining standards.
Drag, Race… and the Decline of Prestige?
The new hire isn’t your typical visiting professor. Khubchandani, who teaches at Tufts University, plans to lecture in full drag during parts of his teaching stint, blending performance, identity, and academia under his alter ego’s unapologetically bold name.

“LaWhore” because I’m from Lahore… and a bit of a w**e,”* the performer once joked.
“And Vagistan… because I see the subcontinent as one big, beautiful Vag…istan.”
But not everyone is laughing. Conservative education groups like Parents Defending Education slammed the move, with legal fellow Sarah Perry writing, “Harvard is a joke.”
A post from Just Questions Radio piled on, mocking Khubchandani’s published works and calling the university’s curriculum “garbage.”
RuPaul Meets the Lecture Hall
LaWhore’s course “RuPaulitics” centers around RuPaul’s Drag Race, the Emmy-winning reality series where drag queens compete in over-the-top challenges. The class promises to explore themes of “desire, gender discipline, and queer nightlife.”

She’ll also teach “Queer Ethnography,” diving into global LGBTQ+ culture through storytelling, performance, and identity.
Supporters say it’s a bold step for Harvard that embraces inclusivity and innovation. Critics, however, see it as a sign of academic decay.
“A Harvard education isn’t what it used to be,” one user sighed on X.
Trump Reacts, But Not How You’d Expect
News of the appointment came just days after President Trump unfroze $2.4 billion in federal grants to Harvard under an agreement allowing the university to help run new trade schools.
The timing of Harvard’s trade-school announcement alongside its drag-focused courses also drew attention online.
“We went from shop class to RuPaulitics in 24 hours,” one commenter joked.
What’s Next for LaW*ore at Harvard?
Harvard has not publicly commented on the backlash. The university did not respond to The U.S. Sun’s request for comment.
LaWhore herself is no stranger to controversy. Her drag persona has appeared in academic circles for over a decade, including music videos and lectures titled “Lessons in Drag.”
Whether you see it as progress or performance art gone rogue, one thing’s clear: Harvard’s latest course has everyone talking.
