As Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce celebrate their highly publicized engagement, one name is notably missing from the wave of celebrity congratulations: Blake Lively.
Fans have been quick to notice that the Gossip Girl star, once considered one of Swift’s closest confidantes, hasn’t liked, commented, or acknowledged the announcement at all. And according to insiders, the silence is no accident.
“No congratulations — and no interest”
“Blake didn’t reach out, and she isn’t going to,” a source told Daily Mail. “This isn’t the time. What would be the point of reaching out now?”
The insider, referencing Lively’s recent legal battle with It Ends With Us co-star Justin Baldoni, added: “She’s got bigger fish to fry.”
Despite being active on Instagram this week, sharing birthday messages and shoutouts from friends, Lively, 38, has made zero public mention of Swift’s engagement. And sources say it reflects a deeper fracture between the two women.
“There’s no ‘will she or won’t she’ about Blake being in the wedding, because she just won’t,” the source continued. “She knows that, and I don’t think she particularly wants to talk about that.”
From red carpet sisters to total distance
Taylor and Blake’s once-tight friendship began unraveling earlier this year, after Swift was dragged into the $400 million lawsuit Justin Baldoni filed against Lively, Reynolds, and her publicist.
In court documents, Lively allegedly referred to Swift and husband Ryan Reynolds as her “most trusted partners” and even hinted at unleashing her “dragons” to protect them. Soon after, Swift was hit with a subpoena to testify. It was a move she reportedly wanted no part of.
“Taylor wants no involvement in this drama,” a source told People at the time, adding that the friendship had “halted.”
In May, Baldoni’s legal team dropped the subpoena against Swift, but the damage to the friendship had already been done. Another insider said the women were simply “taking space,” but that space now feels more like a canyon.
While Taylor celebrates, Blake moves on
As Swift and Kelce bask in engagement bliss, complete with a floral-filled proposal and a stunning old mine brilliant-cut diamond from Kindred Lubeck, Lively is keeping her distance, both online and off.
Sources close to the actress say she isn’t “sitting at home obsessing” over the engagement. In fact, she’s reportedly not talking about Swift at all.
“This is something we would’ve talked about in the past — if she was going to be in the wedding, what that would look like,” the source said. “But now, it’s just silence.”
And with Swift’s Life of a Showgirl album dropping October 3 and Netflix reportedly circling a potential wedding documentary, one thing seems clear: Blake won’t be in the frame.
Because for all the public fairy tale moments, behind the scenes, even the closest friendships can fade to black.
