Fox News heavyweight Sean Hannity is opening up about the real reason he swapped New York City for Florida and it’s a story that mixes politics, lifestyle, and a surprising dose of romance.
The 63-year-old talk show host revealed on his program that it wasn’t just high taxes, quality of life and crime that drove him south. It was the glares and hostility he often felt when stepping out in public.
“I had a hard time going to a restaurant in New York City because people would stare at me and hated me,” Sean admitted. “They had daggers in their eyes.”

Ultimately, he said, the choice was clear: “You know why I left New York? High taxes, quality of life, crime… So I left. It’s one of those decisions I made. And you know what? I’m loved down here in Florida.”
A power couple making it work
While Sean thrives in the Sunshine State, his fiancée and fellow Fox star Ainsley Earhardt continues to call New York home. The couple, who got engaged in December, have no plans to change their unique arrangement, even after they tie the knot.

The two see each other frequently, traveling back and forth between Florida and New York, and friends say they’ve found a rhythm that works perfectly for their careers and their relationship.
Standing strong in a divided climate
Despite the challenges of today’s media landscape, Sean has continued to speak boldly, unafraid of controversy. Earlier this week, the White House issued a statement to Entertainment Weekly, blasting Ana Navarro after she mocked “Latino Trumpers” on The View during the heated immigration debate.
White House spokesperson Abigail Jackson hit back forcefully: “Just when you think Ana Navarro can’t get any dumber, she proves you wrong… Democrats are out of touch with Americans of all backgrounds.”

For Sean, who has long been one of Trump’s staunchest allies on television, the exchange was another reminder of the sharp divisions in today’s political culture and why he feels more at ease in Florida, surrounded by supporters rather than hostility.
Florida sunshine, New York love
Even as Sean embraces his Florida lifestyle, complete with warmer weather and friendlier crowds, his love story with Ainsley keeps him tethered to New York.
Together, they’ve become one of Fox News’ most talked-about couples: a long-distance romance balancing prime-time television careers, political firestorms, and very different ZIP codes.
