Diana Montano insists she’s found her soulmate in 76-year-old Edgar despite brutal online backlash and even criticism from her own family.
Love knows no bounds… at least not for 25-year-old Diana Montano from San Diego, who is happily in love with her 76-year-old boyfriend Edgar. The pair, who met through a mutual friend, have been together since July 2024 and Diana says their 51-year age gap doesn’t matter one bit.
Facing the Haters
Since going public with their romance, Diana and Edgar have faced harsh criticism online. Strangers have branded their relationship “disturbing” and “disgusting,” while trolls have even sent chilling messages, including “I hope you die before he does” and “There’s a special place in hell for people who abuse the elderly.”
But Diana insists the negativity doesn’t shake her. “When we read those comments it makes us laugh more than anything else,” she explained, adding that she’s also received supportive messages from people who admire their bond.
Family Pushback and Social Struggles
Diana admits the hardest part has been introducing Edgar to her social circle. While her friends’ partners fit seamlessly into young adult hangouts, Edgar finds it harder to connect in those settings. At family gatherings, Diana now sits more with older relatives so Edgar can socialize with people closer to his age, something she says is also necessary because of a slight language barrier between generations.
“Some family members think I’m ruining my life,” she confessed. “But I know I am happy.”
Why It Works
Despite criticism, Diana describes their romance as the most “intimate and passionate” relationship she’s ever had. The couple shares a love of art, hiking, travel, and adventure, with plans to go skiing and even skydiving together.
“If anything, he’s more fit than me,” she laughed, noting Edgar still hits the gym three times a week.
And while Diana enjoys nightlife and clubbing, she says Edgar is open-minded and supportive of the things she loves, even if they’re not his scene.
When asked about their sex life, Diana said she is attracted to Edgar but prefers to keep those details private.
Looking Ahead
The 25-year-old says she isn’t worried about the future or the realities of Edgar’s age. “If he ends up needing care later in life, Edgar has mentioned he’d consider hiring a caretaker — and of course I’d help too,” she explained. For now, she insists he’s fit, healthy, and full of energy.
“Edgar brings out the best in me — and I bring out the best in him,” Diana gushed. “I’ve met my soulmate; there’s no one my age like him.”
