Remembering Kellyanne Lytal: Texas family mourns 8-year-old lost in camp mystic floods

The Lytal family is holding onto faith and memories after confirming their 8-year-old daughter, Kellyanne Elizabeth Lytal, was among the victims of the devastating Texas Hill Country floods.

“A Shining Light” Lost Too Soon

Texas Rangers identified Kellyanne as one of the girls killed at Camp Mystic, the all-girls Christian retreat where at least 27 campers and counselors went missing after flash floods overtook the Guadalupe River on July 4.

“She was a shining light in this world,” the Lytal family said in a statement to Fox News Digital.
“She was kind, fearless, silly, compassionate, and a loving friend to everyone.”

The family added that Kellyanne “believed deeply in Jesus” and expressed comfort knowing “she is in Heaven with our Lord and Savior.”

A Family’s Gratitude Amid Heartbreak

While the tragedy has claimed at least 119 lives statewide, including 27 from Camp Mystic, the Lytals expressed thanks for the support they’ve received:

“Our family wants to thank everyone for their prayers and support during this difficult time. We are forever grateful for the men and women who are assisting in the search and rescue efforts.”

Officials say 176 people remain missing across affected areas, as first responders continue combing through flood-ravaged communities.

Honoring Kellyanne’s Legacy

In her memory, Kellyanne’s family established the Kellyanne Elizabeth Lytal Memorial Foundation as part of the Greater Houston Community Foundation. The fund will support charitable causes close to Kellyanne’s heart.

“We thank God for the eight magical years we got to share with her,” the Lytals said.

They are asking for continued prayers not only for their family, but for all those affected by the disaster.
