Erin Murphy is embracing 61 with style, grace, and a touch of magic. The beloved Bewitched actress, known for playing the adorable Tabitha Stephens, shared a glowing selfie on Tuesday, June 17, to celebrate her birthday—and fans couldn’t get enough.
“Rise & shine, it’s my birthday! This is 61. ❤️,” Murphy captioned the sunlit snapshot, which quickly lit up with birthday wishes from fans and fellow stars alike.
Murphy famously captured hearts as the child of Samantha Stephens (played by Elizabeth Montgomery) and Darrin Stephens in the iconic 1960s fantasy-comedy series. Though still a child when she starred on Bewitched, Murphy has remained a nostalgic favorite for generations of TV fans.
In April, Murphy delighted fans again when she posted a rare selfie with her twin sister, Diane Murphy. The two sisters originally shared the role of Tabitha, trading off episodes for the first few seasons. As they got older and their appearances began to differ, Erin ultimately took over the role full-time.
“Sharing that character with my sister is something really special,” Murphy has said in past interviews. “It’s a bond we’ll always have.”
Speaking exclusively to PEOPLE at the Last Chance for Animals’ 40th Anniversary Gala in October 2024, Murphy was asked the age-old Bewitched fan question: Who was the better Darrin—Dick York or Dick Sargent?
“My entire life I have been so diplomatic because I loved them both,” she admitted. “They were wonderful guys. But watching the show, Dick York is a better Darrin.”
It’s a rare moment of honesty from the actress, who has long spoken fondly of both men. York starred as Darrin from 1964 to 1969 before stepping away due to health issues. Sargent then took over the role from 1969 to the show’s end in 1972.
Today, Murphy is thriving—splitting her time between acting, animal activism, and enjoying family life. She often makes appearances at fan conventions and charity events, and she remains close with the legacy of Bewitched, always honoring her castmates and the joy the show continues to bring to new viewers.
