“She lost her partner of 60 years.”
Miss Kay Robertson, the beloved matriarch of the Duck Dynasty family, is going through one of the hardest chapters of her life. She’s grieving the loss of her husband Phil Robertson, while quietly battling her own health issues.
“Kay is not in the best of health,” her son Willie Robertson shared in a candid interview. “We’re trying to help her out as much as we can.”
The heartbreaking update comes just weeks after Phil’s death on May 25, following a battle with Alzheimer’s disease. He was 79.
“She Lost Her Partner of 60 Years”
Miss Kay, known to fans for her signature Southern charm and unwavering faith, was noticeably absent from the Duck Dynasty: The Revival premiere party in Monroe, Louisiana on June 1.
According to Willie, her absence wasn’t just physical.
“Some of it is, she is just depressed,” he explained. “She lost her partner of 60 years.”
Although Kay will appear in the early episodes of the upcoming Duck Dynasty reboot, her declining health reportedly prevented her from participating in the later ones.
A Scare That Shook the Family
Concerns about Miss Kay’s health first surfaced in April. Her son Jase Robertson revealed on the Unashamed podcast that she had suffered a fall and developed an infection serious enough to require hospitalization.
“We were kind of dealing with the fact that maybe this is it,” Jase admitted at the time.
He also revealed that Kay now needs 24/7 professional care and has spent time in a care facility, surrounded by friends and family members, lovingly dubbed “Kay’s Kingdom.”
“My mom is not doing great physically,” he shared. “But we’re doing what we can to keep her spirits up.”
Faith, Family, and Phil
Even in her decline, Kay found strength in the presence of her children. Phil, before his passing, told the family that their support was helping her morale. And she was helping his in return.
The couple’s unshakable bond, forged over six decades, became a source of strength for the entire Robertson family.
“He was the Real Deal,” Willie wrote in a moving tribute after his father’s death. “The same on Sundays as Fridays.”
“Thank you for raising me the right way and teaching me the most important lesson to prepare me for the day you passed on.”
Duck Dynasty Returns — But Without Its Patriarch
Earlier this year, A&E announced that Duck Dynasty would return after eight years, following the lives of Willie, his wife Korie, their children John Luke, Sadie, Will, Bella, and Rebecca, and now a growing generation of grandkids.
While the original show made TV history with nearly 12 million viewers, the revival is expected to bring a more personal and faith-driven look at the Robertson legacy.
And although Miss Kay may be appearing less on-screen this time, her spirit, and her story, remain central to the heart of the family.
“Kay’s not doing great,” her sons say. But if there’s one thing fans of Duck Dynasty know, it’s that Miss Kay’s strength runs deep.
And right now, she’s surrounded by exactly what she needs: faith, family, and fierce love.
