KD’s time in Phoenix looks over — and the Miami Heat are ready to make their move.
The NBA Finals aren’t even here yet — but Kevin Durant’s future is already the hottest topic of the summer.
After a disastrous 36–46 season and no playoff berth, the Phoenix Suns are spiraling.
And earlier this offseason, NBA insider Shams Charania reported that major changes would “start with Kevin Durant” once the Suns’ collapse became official.
“Barring a final miracle, there will be changes. And they start with Kevin Durant,” Charania said on The Pat McAfee Show.
It’s looking like that prediction is about to come true.
Miami Wants Durant — And Durant Wants Miami
Durant does not have a no-trade clause, and multiple reports say he’s open to a new start — with Miami emerging as a serious option.
According to Five Reasons Sports, Durant is interested in joining the Heat, and Miami is preparing to pursue a trade aggressively.
After a disappointing first-round playoff exit, Miami’s front office promised big changes — and KD could be exactly the superstar they’re looking for.
KD Still Playing Like an MVP
Despite the Suns’ collapse, Durant’s production stayed elite. He averaged 26.6 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 4.2 assists per game while shooting an efficient 52.7% from the field, 43.0% from three-point range, and 83.9% from the free throw line. He also played 62 games this season, showing impressive durability at 36 years old.
If Miami pulls it off, Durant would instantly boost a core featuring Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo, reigniting their championship dreams.
Rockets Emerging as a Key Player
While several teams have been linked to Durant — including the New York Knicks, San Antonio Spurs, and Minnesota Timberwolves — the Houston Rockets have surfaced as a team to watch closely.
According to The Athletic, Durant is very interested in the idea of joining Houston.
The Rockets have the draft picks and young talent to potentially make a deal happen — but there’s a catch.
Team sources say Houston has serious reservations about pursuing Durant aggressively, mainly because his age (36) doesn’t align with the Rockets’ longer-term rebuild around players like Jalen Green and Alperen Sengun.
It’s also worth noting that earlier talks between Phoenix and Houston were initiated by the Suns, not the Rockets — suggesting that Houston wasn’t chasing Durant but is open to listening.
The End of a Superteam Disaster
Durant joined Phoenix to build a superteam with Devin Booker and Bradley Beal.
Instead? Injuries, chemistry problems, and one of the most expensive failed experiments in NBA history.
Durant’s likely exit now marks the end of an era — and could spark a massive reshuffling of the league this summer.
