Still going strong at 92!
Country music icon Willie Nelson is showing no signs of slowing down as he celebrates another incredible milestone โ his 92nd birthday.
Born just before midnight on April 29, 1933, in Abbott, Texas, Nelson has long joked that he gets to celebrate two birthdays thanks to a paperwork error that recorded his birth date as April 30. And why not? Two birthdays seem only fitting for a man who’s packed more into his life than most could in several lifetimes.
A Career for the History Books
With a staggering 154 albums under his belt โ both solo and collaborative โ Nelson’s influence on American music is unmatched.
His latest release, “Oh What a Beautiful World,” dropped just days before his birthday, on April 25. The album is a heartfelt tribute, reimagining the work of fellow Texas music legend Rodney Crowell.
Known as one of the founding fathers of outlaw country, Nelson’s rebel spirit has never been confined to music. Over the decades, he’s become a fierce advocate for causes close to his heart, from legalizing marijuana to supporting America’s farmers through his iconic Farm Aid concerts.
Health Rumors Swatted Down by Family
Despite battling emphysema, pneumonia, and even COVID-19 in recent years, Willie is still hitting the stage, most recently performing at his beloved Luck Reunion on his Texas ranch. And fans can rest easy โ he’s gearing up once again for his famous Fourth of July Picnic concert this summer.
However, some recent tabloid rumors sparked a mini family feud. After AXS TV posted a photo suggesting Willie’s son, Lukas Nelson, was now “taking care” of him and his wife, Annie D’Angelo, Annie wasnโt having it.
Clapping back in the comments section, Annie slammed the network for “making stuff up” and correcting them on her and Willie’s ages. “I still take care of my husband โ and love it,” she wrote, proudly defending their independence. “Just ask” if you want the facts, she added, throwing some polite but pointed shade.
