Joe Biden’s speech
Speaking at a bipartisan conference in Chicago, the former president took the stage at the Sofitel Chicago Magnificent Mile, where the event was organized by Advocates, Counselors, and Representatives for the Disabled (ACRD).
The focus of the gathering was the protection and future of Social Security.
In his speech, Biden took aim at the current administrationโs approach to managing the Social Security Administration. He voiced concern over recent developments, saying:
โFewer than 100 days, this administration has done so much damage, and so much destruction โ itโs kind of breathtaking it could happen that soon.โ
He drew sharp attention to staffing reductions and structural changes within the Social Security Administration, stating, โTheyโve taken a hatchet to the Social Security, pushing 7,000 employees out the door.โ
Biden also raised concerns over growing issues with user access, pointing out, โPeople canโt sign on to their accounts,โ and added with frustration, โWho in the hell do they think they are?โ
Further criticizing the administrationโs motives, Biden suggested that the reforms are being carried out recklessly and with hidden intentions.
โTheyโre shooting first and aiming later. They want to wreck it so they can rob it,โ he said. โWhy do they want to rob it? In order to give tax cuts to billionaires and big corporations.โ
