Greg Gutfeld admits it’s not easy to be a father at 60. “I am terrible at everything”

Greg Gutfeld, known for his sharp wit and bold commentary on his late-night Fox News talk show, recently opened up about a major life shift: becoming a father at the age of 60.

In a candid personal essay for Fox News, the host shared how his journey into parenthood has forced him to reevaluate the self-focused lifestyle he had long embraced.

Reflecting on his past, Gutfeld described himself as having “mastered the art of being selfish,” a mindset he credited with playing a significant role in his professional success. However, he acknowledged that this approach is no longer sustainable now that heโ€™s responsible for someone else.

โ€œSo becoming a parent at my age is forcing me to learn things many of you learned in your 20s, 30s and 40s โ€“ that you have to think about someone else. And for me, that’s tough,โ€ he admitted.

The birth of his daughter Mira, whom he shares with wife Elena Moussa, 42, in December, has transformed his world. Gutfeld noted that their home life has undergone a complete change since Miraโ€™s arrival.

Despite the challenges of becoming a first-time parent later in life, he expressed a deep sense of purpose and acceptance. โ€œOnce you have a kid, you can’t regret anything you did before that because to change the past would erase the possibility of that child,โ€ he wrote.”

Gutfeldโ€™s honest reflections highlight the emotional and practical adjustments that come with late-in-life parenthood, a topic rarely explored by public figures with his level of openness.

In July 2024, Greg Gutfeld and his wife, Elena Moussa, made a big moveโ€”both literally and symbolicallyโ€”when they purchased a $10.5 million loft in SoHo, New York, according to Realtor.com.

In his recent essay, Gutfeld expressed deep admiration for his wifeโ€™s strength throughout the pregnancy and delivery. He described the experience as a โ€œnine-month tour of dutyโ€ saying, โ€œAnd for that reason, we should treat moms like conquering heroes.โ€

On an episode of The Five, Gutfeld admitted that fatherhood doesnโ€™t come naturally to him. He described himself as being โ€œterrible at everything. I give emotional support, but Elena is pretty hands-on and keeps me away from it,โ€ he shared.
