Lakers coach J.J. Redick is making waves in his first season, while LeBron James made history.
With the Lakers climbing the Western Conference standings and Redick handling both a blockbuster trade and the leagueโs first-ever father-son duo, his journey to this moment has been anything but ordinary.
Redickโs First Year as Coach Exceeds Expectations
In his inaugural season as the Lakers’ head coach, Redick has navigated significant NBA storylines.
The team drafted Bronny James, making history as he and LeBron became the first father-son duo to play in the league simultaneouslyโand on the same team. โ
The media frenzy that ensued was unparalleled, even for someone with Redick’s extensive experience.
Then, in a stunning midseason trade, Luka Donฤiฤ joined the Lakers. Redick seamlessly integrated the Slovenian star into the lineup, and since his arrival, the Lakers have been playing some of their best basketball. โ
The Lakers are currently second in the Western Conference after winning their sixth consecutive game and 12 of their last 14.
LeBron scores of 50,000 Career Points – Redick not impressed?
After the Lakers’ recent win against the Pelicans, LeBron James has now reached 50,000 career points, after standing at 49,999.
He’s already the NBA’s all-time leading scorer, but now he’s poised to become the first player ever to hit this milestone. โ
When Redick was asked whether this is the greatest record in NBA history after LeBron scored his incredible 50k basket, he responded, โIโd say Wiltโs 100-point game. As far as individual performances go, I donโt think anyone will ever break that.โโ
LeBron’s career-high scoring game was back in 2014 when he put up 61 points against the Charlotte Bobcats while playing for the Miami Heat.
He may never match Wilt’s legendary feat or even surpass his own personal best, but he’s set to make history by reaching the 50,000 mark.
