The Luka Lakers are doing very well after an impressive win away at the Nuggets
The Los Angeles Lakers delivered a statement win on Saturday night, securing a dominant 123–100 victory over the Denver Nuggets on the road.
The win tightened the battle for third place in the Western Conference and showcased the growing potential of the Lakers’ revamped roster.
Luka Doncic had his most impressive performance since joining Los Angeles, putting up 32 points, 10 rebounds, and 7 assists.
Following the victory, head coach JJ Redick addressed his team in the locker room with passionate remarks.
“This morning we talked about going to war. Be willing to die on the court,” Redick said, expressing the intensity he wanted from his players. “I was so amped today. I should’ve been able to take a nap. I couldn’t sleep last night.”
“I was thinking where we can go today as a team, and you guys went even higher and that shows our belief in our system.” Said JJ as he was praising every individual including Luka. “Luka it’s good to have you back man.”
He went on to praise the Lakers for exceeding his expectations, highlighting the collective effort in limiting the impact of Nuggets’ star center Nikola Jokic.
And then, “Last thing” JJ said “We are talking all season about our belief. If we play like this we are going to be just fine. That build my belief of what we can accomplish” implying that the team can can go all the way
Clearly JJ was the man for the job and he has done outstanding so far. This speech should be an open warning to the rest of the league, as he and his team believe they can go all the way. The Lakers are surely dedicated now.
That dedication clearly paid off, as Los Angeles delivered a dominant performance to halt Denver’s nine-game winning streak. The Lakers now sit fourth in a stacked Western Conference with a record of 34-21. If the season ended today, they would face the Houston Rockets in the playoffs.
