Megyn Kelly hits at Tom Hanks over his role in a controversial “Saturday Night Live” sketch, where he portrayed MAGA supporters in the most negative way.
During Tuesday’s episode of The Megyn Kelly Show on SiriusXM, Kelly expressed strong disapproval of Hanks’ participation, calling it a betrayal of the very audience that played a key role in his rise to Hollywood stardom.
“Shame on him,” Kelly remarked, criticizing the veteran actor for being part of the skit that aired during SNL’s 50th anniversary special on Sunday.
She accused the segment of unfairly depicting MAGA supporters as “worth-nothing racists” and took issue with Hanks’ involvement, given his longstanding reputation as one of America’s most beloved actors.
What did Megyn say?
Megyn Kelly expressed her disappointment over Tom Hanks’ involvement in a recent Saturday Night Live sketch, criticizing the actor for what she saw as an unexpected and divisive move.
“It was shocking to see somebody who tries so carefully not to be too divisive in his choices come right out and suggest he thinks Trump supporters are racists. Shame on him,” Kelly stated.
Hanks reprised his role as Doug, a character originally introduced in 2016 during the recurring Black Jeopardy skit.
Doug, a portrayal of a rural, Trump-supporting American, was initially depicted as someone who found unexpected common ground with Black contestants on the fictional game show.
The backlash extended beyond media critics, with many Trump supporters taking on social media and immediately accusing “SNL” of divisive propaganda.
