President Trump Speaks Out on Washington, D.C. Plane Crash, Calls It Avoidable
President Donald Trump recently took to Truth Social to share his thoughts on the tragic airplane crash near Reagan Washington Airport. The incident occurred on January 29, 2025, at approximately 9 p.m. local time. In a series of posts, Trump addressed the details of the collision and emphasized the seriousness of the situation.
In his first message, Trump pointed out that the PSA Airlines Bombardier CRJ700 regional jet was following a routine and precise approach to the airport. He then highlighted a critical factorโthe helicopter involved in the crash had been flying directly toward the aircraft for an extended period.
“It is a CLEAR NIGHT, the lights on the plane were blazing, why didn’t the helicopter go up or down, or turn. Why didn’t the control tower tell the helicopter what to do instead of asking if they saw the plane [sic],” Trump wrote.
Trump expressed frustration over what he believed to be a preventable tragedy, stressing the importance of better communication and air traffic control decisions. He concluded his statement with a stark warning about the gravity of the situation, writing, “NOT GOOD!!!“
In a follow-up post, Trump reiterated the devastation of the crash, addressing the public with a brief but heartfelt message: “God bless you all!”
The White House has also responded to the incident. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt spoke about the crash during an interview with TV host Sean Hannity. She confirmed that the president had been briefed and provided further details on the accident.
“I can confirm that President Trump has been made aware of the situation, and tragically, it appears that a military helicopter collided with a regional jet at DCA airport right here in Washington, D.C.,” Leavitt stated.
The administration has emphasized its focus on those affected by the tragedy as investigations continue.
