Damian Charles Hurley was born in April 2002, two years after his mother ended her 13-year relationship with actor Hugh Grant. Though Elizabeth and Grant remained close friends, she later dated businessman Steve Bing for 18 months, and he was Damian’s biological father.
When Damian was born, Elizabeth asked Grant to be his godfather, a reflection of their enduring friendship. Over the years, Elizabeth has spoken candidly about maintaining strong relationships with past partners, noting that respect for their current lives and families is essential.

In June 2020, tragedy struck when Steve Bing was found dead outside an apartment building in Century City, California. His passing deeply affected both Elizabeth and Damian, who shared heartfelt tributes on social media.
Elizabeth reflected on their time together, posting a series of photos and writing, “I am saddened beyond belief that my ex Steve is no longer with us. It is a terrible end. Our time together was very happy, and I’m posting these pictures because although we went through some tough times, it’s the good, wonderful memories of a sweet, kind man that matter.”
She also revealed that they had rekindled a closer relationship in the year leading up to his passing, with their last conversation taking place on Damian’s 18th birthday.
