A big change: Donald Trump declares the U.S. government will only recognize 2 genders – Male and female

In his inaugural address delivered from the Capitol Rotunda, President Donald Trump announced a landmark shift in federal policy regarding gender recognition.

Speaking Monday, President Trump declared, “As of today, it will henceforth be the official policy of the United States government that there are only two genders—male and female.”

The announcement signals a move to limit federal protections for transgender individuals, aligning with the administration’s stance on redefining gender categories. The policy change has drawn widespread attention, marking a significant moment in the government’s approach to gender identity issues.

The President is expected to sign an executive order targeting transgender rights, including restrictions on access to medical care and participation in sports competitions. According to an incoming official, the directive will also establish that only two sexes—male and female—will be recognized on official documents such as passports and visas, as reported by The Associated Press.

Four years ago, on his first day in office, Joe Biden signed an executive order aimed at safeguarding individuals from discrimination based on gender identity or sexual orientation. President Trump now plans to reverse that decision.
