LeBron James surprised with his most ‘interesting’ Michael Jordan comment after beating yet another MJ record
LeBron James vs Michael Jordan continues to be a long-standing and fiery topic among basketball fans. Jordan’s six championships and unblemished record in the NBA Finals cement his legendary status, while LeBron’s exceptional versatility, longevity, and ability to dominate in every facet of the game position him as a formidable contender for the greatest of all time (GOAT).
LeBron has surpassed several of Jordan’s records and etched his name into history as the NBA’s all-time leading scorer. However, he remains a lightning rod for criticism, particularly from Jordan and Kobe Bryant most loyal fans.
To many of these critics, Jordan’s undefeated Finals record and Kobe’s “Mamba Mentality” represent the ultimate benchmarks of greatness. Despite LeBron’s remarkable accomplishments and his undeniable impact on the game, he often finds himself overshadowed by the enduring nostalgia and reverence for past icons.
What did LeBron James say?
“It’s incredibly humbling,” LeBron James shared after beating Michael Jordan’s 30+ games record. “To be mentioned alongside any of the all-time greats—and arguably THE GREATEST to ever play the game—is just super cool.”
“Michael Jordan was someone I idolized growing up, and the reason I wear No. 23 is because of him. To now find myself in the same conversation as MJ, it’s just unbelievably dope for me, especially as a kid coming from where I grew up.”
What people didn’t realize in this video is how natural was for LeBron James to say, “And arguably one” Then he stops and says “The GREATEST to have ever played the game.” You can see the moment he says that at 0:10 in the video above.
During the postgame, his teammate Anthony Davis playfully teased LeBron James about the time it took him to surpass Michael Jordan.
“It only took him seven extra seasons,” Davis quipped, flashing a smirk in LeBron’s direction. “But honestly, that’s an incredible accomplishment. At this point, I think he’s probably No. 1 in f—ing everything.”
