Snoop Dogg had an unforgettable and emotional evening on Monday’s episode of The Voice, bidding farewell to a standout performer, Aliyah Khaylyn. The 23-year-old from Philadelphia stunned both the judges and audience with a jaw-dropping performance of Whitney Houston’s “I Have Nothing.”
Calling it “one of the hardest songs you could ever give someone to sing on this show,” Snoop praised Khaylyn’s performance, which she delivered flawlessly.
Yet, despite her undeniable talent, the rapper had to make difficult decisions. Like his fellow coaches Reba McEntire, Michael Bublรฉ, and Gwen Stefani, Snoop was tasked with narrowing his team from five contestants to just two who would move forward to the live finals.
Khaylynโs Journey Ends Despite Stellar Performance
Snoop originally stole Khaylyn from Team Bublรฉ during the Battle Round, a move other coaches agreed was smart. Stefani even remarked after Khaylyn’s last note, “I’m in shock right now.”
McEntire, with her signature Southern charm, encouraged Khaylyn to pursue her music career immediately, saying, “If you don’t have music out soon, I’m gonna cry, โcause I love your voice. You’re so good.”
Even though Khaylyn’s performance left everyone in awe, Snoop ultimately chose Jeremy Beloate and Christina Eagle as his finalists. Reflecting on his choices, Snoop explained, “This was one of the hardest decisions Iโve ever had to make.”
Meet Snoopโs Finalists
Jeremy Beloate, a 25-year-old New York City native, solidified his place in the live shows with a powerful rendition of Josh Grobanโs “The Impossible Dream (My Quest).” Bublรฉ, visibly moved, called it “one of my favorite performances so far.” Both Snoop and McEntire were brought to tears by Beloateโs Broadway-caliber delivery.
Christina Eagle wowed the judges with a bold and reimagined performance of Reba McEntire’s iconic hit “Fancy.” The country superstar herself was impressed, saying, “I loved the way you changed it around. Your choreography was great. You were passionate about it. Wonderful, wonderful job!”
Snoop humorously reflected on Eagleโs progress, saying, “She had one wing when I met her, and then she got a second wing. As you can see, the eagle has landed.”
Heartbreaking Eliminations
While Khaylynโs departure was a surprise, Snoop also said goodbye to two other talented singers:
- Austyns Stancil, whose full falsetto performance of Prince’s “Adore” was breathtaking but not enough to move forward.
- Mikaela Ayira, who delivered a beautiful rendition of Keyshia Coleโs “Love.”
The Playoff rounds brought intense competition and emotional moments, with the remaining contestants heading into the live finals. For Snoop Dogg, McEntire, and the other coaches, the stakes only continue to rise as they mentor their finalists toward The Voice crown.
