Kai Trump has officially started a new chapter away from her family home in Jupiter, Florida, moving into her own apartment as she begins her freshman year at the University of Miami.
The 18-year-old granddaughter of President Donald Trump recently gave followers a complete look inside the place she now calls home while competing as a Division I golfer for the Miami Hurricanes.
Despite coming from one of America’s most prominent families, Kai showed off a relatively simple and comfortable college setup, complete with a kitchen, living room, office, bedroom and personal touches from home.
Kai herself acknowledged that her living arrangement is more than many freshmen have when they first arrive at college.
“I’m very, very lucky to have this obviously as a freshman,” she said during her YouTube apartment tour. “I love it. It’s very nice coming home to no one.”

The tour began in what Kai described as her favorite part of the apartment: the kitchen.
Her reason was simple.
She said she “eat[s] a lot.”
The open kitchen includes a large island with seating, modern appliances and generous counter space. Nearby is the living room, which features a white couch and another detail that immediately caught Kai’s attention.
“[There’s] my fireplace, which is, like, I think, the coolest part of this,” she said.
The apartment also includes a guest bathroom and a dedicated office where Kai can complete her schoolwork.
Her bedroom has its own bathroom as well as a walk-in closet.
Rather than leaving the apartment completely neutral, Kai has already begun filling it with reminders of the places, activities and people that matter to her.
One wall features a black-and-white photograph of gondolas in Aspen, Colorado. Kai explained that she loves skiing. She also displayed a New York City skyline print and several personal photographs.
Among those pictures is a photograph of Kai riding in a golf cart with her grandfather, President Trump.
College life revolves around golf
Although Kai now has her own place in Miami, her schedule leaves relatively little time for simply enjoying the apartment or exploring the city.
She is officially listed as a freshman on the University of Miami’s 2026-27 women’s golf roster.
Before entering college, Kai competed on the Srixon Medalist Tour, AJGA and South Florida PGA circuits and recorded multiple top finishes in Florida junior events. She also helped her high school program secure four consecutive district team titles.
Miami enters the season ranked No. 21 in Golf Channel’s preseason rankings, with Kai joining coach Janice Olivencia’s roster as one of its newcomers.
Kai made clear that golf — rather than Miami’s famous social scene — is the reason she is there.
“College life is fun,” she said. “When you’re a student-athlete, that makes it hard.”
She acknowledged that she has barely had an opportunity to explore Miami because of her golf commitments.
“I’m here for golf, I’m not here to party in Miami, so I guess that’s OK,” she added.
Home is still within reach
Kai may now be living independently, but she has not completely separated herself from her old routine in Jupiter.
Her golf equipment remains there, along with her trainers and coaches. When she gets an open day, she tries to make the trip home.
“I’ve got all my golf stuff and my trainers and coaches all in Jupiter, so if I have an off day, I try and go home,” Kai explained. “It’s been great.”
For the president’s granddaughter, the move represents a noticeable change of pace: her own comparatively ordinary college apartment, a demanding Division I golf schedule and the first stages of building a life away from the family home.
While her new setup may be more spacious than a traditional freshman dorm room, Kai appears fully aware of how fortunate she is to have it — and, for now, her focus remains firmly on school and golf.
