Big Rom, after scoring the winning goal in the friendly match against Al-Shabab in Riyadh, had some words of praise for the Saudi Pro League: “They make a lot of efforts to bring in top players.”
Romelu Lukaku secured Roma’s victory with his goal in the friendly against Al-Shabab in Riyadh (final score 2-1, with the other Giallorossi goal scored by the young Joao Costa). However, more significant than the goal were Lukaku’s post-match comments which were pretty interesting.

“In the next two years, I see the Saudi Pro League becoming one of the best in the world, if not the best. Clubs are making a lot of efforts to bring top players here. Soon, it could be the best competition in the world overall.”
How should we interpret his words? It’s important to note that the Belgian is on loan to Roma, and his contract is owned by Chelsea. Certainly, these words must have created some tension for both the English and Italian clubs.
Let’s not forget, Roma will have a buy option for around €35/40 Million. Although the player has been great on the pitch, it will be very difficult for the ‘Giallorossi’ to buy the Belgian off next summer. So his future might very much lie in Arabia, where the ‘Big Rom’ will be ready to go and ‘collect his money’.
