Pam Bondi exits attorney general role as President Trump confirms her new shocking job

Trump announces Pam Bondi’s departure as attorney general, outlines transition to private sector role

President Donald Trump confirmed that Attorney General Pam Bondi will leave her Cabinet position and move into a role in the private sector, marking a significant shift inside the administration.

The announcement was made Thursday through a post on Truth Social, where Trump praised Bondi’s tenure while signaling her next step outside government. He stated that Bondi will transition to a “much needed and important new job in the private sector,” though specific details about that role have not yet been disclosed.

Leadership change at the Justice Department

Trump’s statement made clear that a leadership transition is already underway at the Department of Justice. Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche will step in as Acting Attorney General, described by the president as a “very talented and respected legal mind.”

In the same message, Trump emphasized Bondi’s record in office, writing that she had overseen a significant drop in crime, including murders reaching historic lows. He also referred to her as a “Great American Patriot” and a loyal ally.

The New York Times reported that Trump had at one point considered replacing Bondi with Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Lee Zeldin. The report noted Zeldin’s background as a young attorney and his more recent leadership experience, including his work in crisis management and his claims of overseeing major deregulation efforts.

Tensions and criticism surrounding her exit

Bondi’s departure follows reports of internal friction. According to NBC News, she and the president were involved in a heated verbal exchange in the days leading up to the decision, though the exact subject of the disagreement remains unclear.

Additional reporting from The Daily Mail indicated that Bondi was informed of the decision shortly before a scheduled press conference, and that she attempted to persuade Trump to reconsider. Despite those efforts, the president moved forward with the transition.

Her time in office also drew scrutiny from lawmakers. During a January hearing, Rep. James Walkinshaw raised concerns about the handling of documents related to the Jeffrey Epstein case, stating that required materials had not been released despite legal obligations. He described the situation as intentional and criticized what he called a failure to comply with the law.

Private sector role remains undisclosed

While Trump confirmed that Bondi’s next position will be outside government, the administration has not provided further information about the nature of her new job. The president stated that details of her private sector role will be announced at a later date, leaving questions about her next move unanswered for now.

The transition marks the end of Bondi’s time as attorney general and signals a new phase in her career, even as the specifics of that role remain pending.
